Easier than ever to switch to emailed accounts

12 September 2023

It is now easier than ever to make the switch from posted paper accounts to receiving your municipal account via email. Receiving accounts via email gives customers the benefit of greater control and easy record-keeping; it is more cost-effective for the City and this means money can be spent on other service priorities rather than paper and postage and it reduces the risk of the postal service not being able to deliver mail.

'It is as easy as sending an email to the City and a member of the accounts team will add the customer. Just like that. Customers may also ask to be registered for eServices by sending an SMS request. We have almost 380 000 customers who have chosen to go paperless. We want to see this number double over the next months. The benefits are myriad. Paper should be used for nice things like paper airplanes and origami, not for municipal accounts. We encourage our customers to make the easy switch. We thank our customers for their payments as it pays for service delivery and makes our city great,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Finance, Councillor Siseko Mbandezi.

The City encourages customers to switch to emailed accounts by simply forwarding their email and contact number to: Revenue.Eservices@capetown.gov.za

Customers may also submit their request to be registered on eServices or for emailed accounts via SMS to 31223.

For general enquiries including water, electricity, accounts and motor vehicle licences, residents may call the City's Customer call centre on 0860 103 089 or contact.us@capetown.gov.za.
